You are invited to join parishioners from two other congregations (Christ Church and Epiphany Orange and St. George's Maplewood) in sharing two Courageous Conversations on Wednesday, October 4 and Wednesday, November 1 from 7:30pm to 9pm. Courageous Conversation will be something of a follow-up to the discussions some of us participated in last year when we read Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness.
Courage is a matter of the heart (denoting the heart, as the seat of feelings: from Old French corage, from Latin cor ‘heart’). To engage in conversation should be a matter of our heart, for conversation at its best is an expression of our most heart-felt feelings. This invitation is to participate in Courageous Conversation with fellow believers on two subjects that challenger our society today: the reality of mass incarceration, and race and ethnicity.
